Discover opera with your little ones
Children enjoy an interactive opera designed especially for kids under the glittering chandeliers of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The whole family will make lasting memories and have an unforgettable experience. Before the show, little ones get their wiggles out with a full hour of music, dance, and art workshops. They will create special souvenirs to remember their first (or second, or third) time at the opera.
Schedule
10:00am - Art, music and dance workshops
11:00am - Open Door Days Performance
The program is designed for children 3 to 9 years old (but we welcome all ages). All guests, regardless of age, must have a ticket to attend the performance.
About Open Door Days
Open Door Days welcomes kids and families to explore the history of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and how we run an opera house today, from the conductor in the orchestra pit to the supertitles and beyond. Our musical storytellers lead us on a journey through the fantastical world of opera set to iconic arias and scenes by composers including Mozart, Puccini, and Bizet.
Saturday Mornings at the Opera is a great opportunity to bond with your little ones and practice creativity together. Learn why musical experiences are so vital for young people in this episode of Behind the Curtain, featuring early childhood music expert Dr. Nita Baxani.
