40th Anniversary Celebration
Celebrate 40 years of grand opera in Los Angeles!
Almost four decades ago, LA Opera was founded by a group of visionaries who believed Los Angeles deserved its own opera company. Our 40th Anniversary is a chance to celebrate those founders and everyone—subscribers, ticket buyers, patrons, artists, and artisans—who helped make us the world-class opera company we are today.
The 40th Anniversary Campaign
The 2025/26 Season is also a moment to secure the company’s future, ensuring LA Opera thrives for the next 40 years and beyond, as we launch the 40th Anniversary Campaign to raise the resources needed to bring outstanding work to both our mainstage and the community.

40th Anniversary Opera Ball
On September 20, 2025, LA Opera will celebrate the opening of its 40th Anniversary season with a very special gala celebration. This elegant black-tie affair features fine dining and dancing under the stars on The Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza. Join your fellow opera lovers and the renowned artists who thrill us in the theater to celebrate this milestone occasion. It promises to be a truly memorable and tremendously enjoyable evening.

On-Stage Gala Honoring James Conlon
Join us on Friday, April 24, 2026 as we celebrate James Conlon's 20 years at LA Opera with a special concert devoted to the work of three of his favorite opera composers: Mozart, Verdi, and Wagner.
The concert will be followed by a gala dinner and celebration on the stage of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. This very special evening will offer a unique opportunity for the LA Opera family to honor Maestro Conlon and celebrate his extraordinary achievements. Gala tickets are sold separately.
