Change of plans? Looks like rain? Surprise visit from the in-laws? No problem. You may exchange your tickets up to 48 hours in advance of a performance. Late exchanges made between 2-48 hours prior to a curtain can only be completed in person, or by phone. Additional fees, rules and/or restrictions may apply. All exchanges may be subject to a seating price increase.
All-in, Classic and Aria package holders can exchange their tickets to any of our shows and pay no fees, or they may donate the value of their ticket back to LA Opera as a tax-deductible donation.
Ticket exchanges may be made by logging into to your account or by calling the Box Office at 213.972.8001.
If you are unable to attend a performance, please consider donating your tickets to LA Opera for resale. To donate your tickets call 213.972.8001 or email customerservice@laopera.org. The value of your tickets will be acknowledged as a charitable contribution (This amount will not be applied toward donor benefits). You will receive a receipt for this donation after the performance. Printed tickets must arrive one hour before curtain time on the day of the performance to be considered a donation. Help us out: Donate your tickets as early as possible to increase our chances of reselling them.
LA Opera is not responsible for tickets purchased through any third party and is unable to refund or exchange any tickets not purchased directly from laopera.org or the LA Opera Box Office.
We have several tools to enhance your experience of opera (although nothing is needed to enjoy opera except showing up). For starters, you can sign up for our newsletter for interesting articles and behind the scenes info. We also send out a Know Before You Go email prior to each opera with links to information, including a link to the show program, which is also available at the theater.
Speaking of theater, we offer complimentary pre-show talks before each mainstage opera performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. To attend, simply show up an hour before curtain and head to Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall, located on the second floor of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, or catch it at home anytime by clicking here.
Okay, so Adoration might be a bit intense for little Sofia, we get it, but we love having kids at the opera. We welcome children 9-17 years of age, as we know they will love the music and spectacle of live opera, and even offer half-price tickets for this age group. We also have many other programs for families.
Concerts and recitals are a great way to introduce kids to classical music, but since many operas contain adult subject matter, we suggest that parents check the webpage of the opera they are considering attending for any parental advisories as well as the synopsis to make sure it is suitable for their child. (Still have questions? You can always call the Box Office at 213.972.8001)
Our mainstage operas are not suitable for children under 9 and you will not be allowed into the theater with a very young child. Although you can watch from the lobby, you will likely enjoy the performance better if you leave the little ones at home. We have many, many other ways for you to share the magic of opera with your very young child. Click here to learn how.
