Ticket Information
You sure can! You may exchange your tickets up to 48 hours ahead of your performance. Log into your LA Opera account, call our Box Office at 213.972.8001 ext. 0, or email us at customerservice@laopera.org. You're also welcome to visit our Box Office in person, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm.
Emergency exchanges made between 2-48 hours prior to a curtain can only be completed in person at the Box Office window or by phone at 213.972.8001. Additional fees, rules, and/or restrictions may apply. All exchanges may be subject to a seating price increase.
Absolutely, and as an official 501c3 nonprofit organization, we're happy to help! If you are unable to attend a performance, you're welcome to donate your tickets back for resale. It's a win/win for both of us: you get a tax deduction, and we get much-needed funds to cover our costs.
To donate your tickets, simply call 213.972.8001 or log in to your account. You will receive a receipt for this donation, and the value of your tickets will be acknowledged as a charitable contribution after the performance. Please note that the amount will not be applied toward donor benefits.
Just remember, this process needs to be done at least one hour before curtain time on the day of your performance to be considered a donation. Donating your tickets as soon as possible will increase our chances of reselling them to other operagoers!
We offer refunds for tickets in the event that a performance is canceled. If you are not able to attend a performance, please consider donating your tickets to help support us.
Dog eat your tickets? Forgot your account password? It happens, and we've got your back.
Simply call our Box Office at 213.972.8001 to replace your lost or stolen tickets. We'll either email you new tickets or hold the tickets for you at Will Call.
Is opera the greatest gift you can give? Definitely. Are we slightly biased? No comment.

Attending the Opera
That fully depends on you! Each season has something for everyone, including comedy, tragedy, romance, and drama. Many first-time operagoers like to start with the blockbusters: look for works from Mozart, Puccini, Rossini, or Verdi. More of a modern fan? We make sure to include at least one LA premiere per season.
Our helpful Box Office staff is also happy to walk you through the current season's offerings when you call at 213.972.8001. No matter what you pick, you're in for a treat!
Each season, LA Opera's pre-show talks are an enormously popular highlight of our productions, and we would love to have you join us for this tradition. Talks are free to attend with entry and begin one hour before each performance in Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall, located on the 2nd floor of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
You'll hear from opera experts, including our very own Music Director James Conlon, as they walk you through each opera's history, plot, and key musical moments to listen for.

Everyone is welcome at the opera...but we've found that little tots and long operas don't always mix. For mainstage operas, we require that children be 9-17 years of age, and even offer half-priced youth tickets when you call the Box Office at 213.972.8001. Additionally, since many operas contain adult subject matter, we strongly suggest that parents read the opera synopsis and check for content advisories to make sure it is suitable for your child. Still have questions? You can always call the Box Office at 213.972.8001.
While we love kids, we also need to ensure that everyone enjoys the unique experience of attending an opera, so if you arrive with a young child (under 9) you will not be allowed into the venue. Although you can watch from the lobby, you will likely enjoy the show more if you leave the little ones at home. Don't worry: we offer plenty of family-friendly ways to enjoy the magic of opera through LA Opera Connects.
As a nonprofit, we strive to ensure that everyone has access to this great art form. Balcony seats for weeknight performances typically start at just $16 plus fees, but those tickets sell out fast. Lucky for you, we offer a variety of other ways to save on your opera experience.
Rush tickets are available at the Box Office window starting 2 hours before each performance for students, veterans, and seniors: just make sure to bring valid ID! Or skip the lines and sign up for free and discounted tickets for qualifying students, seniors, and nonprofits here.
Groups of 10 or more enjoy 20% off tickets when you call the Box Office at 213.972.8001, and you can even set up a monthly payment plan. Finally, we offer 50% off youth add-on tickets for children 9-17 years of age when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Simply call the Box Office to book.
Sorry, parking is due upon entry and generally cannot be purchased ahead of time. However, our All-In season package includes parking at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
From audience etiquette to what to wear to navigating intermission like a pro, we've built a handy guide for anyone New to Opera.
