Resources for Impacted Residents: #LAStrong

Like the rest of our community, we are heartbroken about the devastation caused by the recent wildfires throughout the county. In the wake of this tragedy, we have compiled a list of resources to assist those impacted by the fires and to help with recovery efforts. We have also included a couple of resources for those seeking a moment of community through music.  

LA County Resources 

LA County has complied with a series of resources and information that is vital for those impacted by the fires or in the surrounding areas. From shelters to alerts for necessities such as water, be sure to visit their website by clicking here to stay informed. 


Kelli O’Hara Tickets 

In the wake of this tragedy, and in an effort to provide respite and comfort, LA Opera is extending free tickets to fire-affected residents, first responders and those providing extraordinary care to those impact to attend our February 1 concert featuring the Tony-Award winning Broadway star Kelli O'Hara in performance with the LA Opera Orchestra. The Broadway legend will be treating us to a host of musical classics as well as some other surprises that we won’t spoil. It will be a night of healing and love with a truly iconic artist. Care Camp  

We are incredibly honored to say that teaching artists from LA Opera Connects (our education department) are partnering with LA County to create a supportive space for fun and recreational activities. Children and teens impacted by the fires can find solace in music, arts and crafts, sports activities and field trips to the LA County Natural History Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, Dodger Stadium and more. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided daily; teens will also get supper. Please click here to view the locations of the camps as well as schedules. 

California Government  

The California government is offering a variety of resources to people impacted by the fires. From finding shelter, getting health information, food assistance, replacing important documents, employment and more. Assistance is also extended to small businesses impacted by the fires. Disaster Assistance  

If you have been impacted by the fires and haven’t reached out to disaster assistance, we highly encourage you to do so. From finding shelters to FEMA disaster recovery centers, there are many resources available that you can apply for by clicking here. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES 

Red Cross  

The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to provide care, blood donations and disaster assistance. In these times of significant disaster, the need for volunteers is more dire than ever. If you are able to help, please click here to apply.  

World Central Kitchen  

World Central Kitchen is working hard to provide meals for people impacted by the fires. The relief team is working with professional chefs, logistics experts, local restaurants and other established organizations. The organization needs volunteers to help prepare meals as well as deliver them by any means necessary. Please click here if you are able to volunteer.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR ARTISTS 

Guitar Center 

For musicians or music programs that have been affected by the fire, Guitar Center has put together a grant to aid those who have lost instruments or gear. This grant will be offered from now until February 28. Music programs that apply must be a 501c3 nonprofit organization or a public school. MusicCares  

For victims of the fire who are working in the music industry, MusicCares is currently offering crisis relief, preventive care, recovery resources, and need-based financial assistance for people across all music professions. They help with both mental and physical health needs, both of which are vital during these times of crisis. J.Paul Getty Trust 

Numerous major arts organizations around the world have come together under the leadership of the J. Paul Getty Trust to form The LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund. This fund is intended to help artists and art workers who have lost residences, studios, or livelihoods or have otherwise been impacted by the devastating Los Angeles fires. Faust Harrison Pianos 

If your piano has been lost or damaged, Faust Harrison is offering three free months of piano rentals as well as piano appraisals for insurance needs. Dramatists Guild Foundation  

For dramatists in need of assistance, the Dramatists Guild Foundations has put together grants to help playwrights, lyricists, composers and lyricists who are impacted by the fires. Be sure to visit their website by clicking here to check eligibility for receiving these grants along with more details about what they have to offer.  

IATSE 

IATSE union members and retirees who have suffered from the fires can receive financial relief from the Richard F. Walsh/Alfred W. Di Tolla/Harold P. Spivak Foundation. The foundation can help pay for necessities as well as provide scholarships to children of members and retirees. To view more info on what can be claimed, or to donate, please click here.  

Inevitable Foundation 

For disabled writers and filmmakers who were impacted by the fires, the Inevitable Foundation has put together an emergency relief fund for those facing destroyed homes, unforeseen evacuation costs, negative health impacts and lost employment because of the fire. SAG-AFTRA 

For SAG-AFTRA members impacted by the fires, the union has put together a disaster relief fund. This disaster relief fund is prioritizing members who have lost their residences and/or vehicles. Please visit the website by clicking here to check eligibility and apply.  

LA Dance Together 

For dancers who have lost necessary clothing in the fires, LA Dance Together is offering dance clothing and shoes, with a variety of clothing for different dance genres from hip-hop to ballet. To apply, click here to fill out the form and they will get in contact with you.
