Leadership academy

LA Opera Connects Leadership Academy empowers students from their junior year through college to investigate careers in the operatic and performing arts world. Academy interns build professional networks with people working in the field, bolster their professional resumés, and hone skills that will support them as the next generation of arts leaders.

By rotating through departments with close mentorship and guidance from key individuals in the company, Academy Interns learn the inner workings of LA Opera, supporting projects at all levels (and even undertaking some of their own!). This is a paid internship opportunity for up to six years; we encourage high school sophomores to apply and begin their internship the summer prior to their junior year.

• LA Opera chooses two rising juniors each year with a passion for learning about the arts.
• Throughout the season, interns rotate through different departments, learning the intricate ins and outs of a major opera company and experiencing a whole range of potential careers in the arts.
• Each paid internship can last up to six years.
