Creative Care: An Opera for life and wellness Program
Take a mid-day pause to recharge your mind, body, and spirit.
This free Zoom series invites everyone to experience the healing power of the arts. Rooted in LA Opera’s upcoming shows and special topics, each gathering incorporates mindfulness, creative expression, learning, and self-reflection. Led by Connects teaching artists, you’ll engage in calming and joyful practices, and strengthen skills that empower you beyond the session.

Creative Care: Teaching Artists
Danielle Birrittella, LMFT, MA, MFA
Danielle holds degrees from California Institute of the Arts (MFA), Pacifica Graduate Institute (MA), and New York University (BA), and is a member of SAG/AFTRA and ASCAP. In addition to her artistic work, she maintains a clinical depth psychotherapy practice, The Intuitive Voice.
Michele Patzakis, DMA
Michele Patzakis is a classically trained soprano who received acclaim for performances across Europe and North America with companies that included New York City Opera, Thèâtre de la Monnaie, and the Spoleto Festivals. She is a Teaching Artist with LA Opera Connects, Voice Faculty at Azusa Pacific University and Pasadena City College, and the Director of the San Francisco District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Her work with LA Opera Connects currently includes serving as: Faculty for the Leadership Academy and Opera for Educators, as well as a Program Coordinator for the LA County Arts and Health Week. Her LA Opera Connects Arts and Health work has also included collaborations with the Brain and Creativity Institute - USC Dornsife, UCLA Health, and Keck Medicine of USC. She earned a DMA from the USC Thornton School of Music and an MM from the New England Conservatory. She is the Chair of the Community Advisory Board of the UCLA Stavros Niarchos Center for Hellenic Studies, and serves on the Executive Boards of the Loren L Zachary Society for the Performing Arts, the NATS-LA, and the SoCal Voice Foundation.
Nandani Sinha, MM
A Doctorate candidate at Johns Hopkins University, she collaborates with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) on music and health initiatives. As a Teaching Artist for LA Opera Connects and founder of Music Heals Minds, she champions the healing power of song in dementia care and wellness.
