LA Opera is seeking a Ticket Seller to join our Box Office team and provide outstanding customer service to our patrons. This role involves handling ticket sales via phone and in person, responding to patron inquiries, and performing other responsibilities related to ensuring our patrons have a smooth, efficient, and positive Box Office experience.
This role is represented by Local 857, IATSE, and Ticket Sellers are required to be members of the union.
Ticket Sellers work at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles, and some work may also be performed remotely.
Key responsibilities include:
- Answering phones, emails and internal communications.
- Selling subscriptions, single tickets and group sales tickets via incoming phone calls and at the Box Office window.
- Assisting patrons with customer service questions and concerns.
- Assisting patrons with online ticket purchases.
- Helping patrons exchange and donate tickets.
- Performing data entry of ticket orders using Tessitura ticketing system (or Ticketmaster terminals, for rental events)
- Working onsite during Box Office hours and showtimes, including working the will call window and subscription tables
- Setting up computers/digital equipment at subscription tables prior to showtime and ensuring they are connected properly
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Box Office Treasurer and First Assistant Treasurer
Key qualifications:
- At least five working in a customer service environment
- Friendly with excellent customer service skills
- Membership in Local 857 IATSE or willingness to become a member
- Ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced computer experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, as well as with data entry and online ordering systems. Basic computer hardware connection and configuration knowledge
- Tessitura and Ticketmaster experience preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
