Canadian-American soprano Gabrielle Turgeon is making waves across North America, most recently garnering critical acclaim for her performance in the finals of the Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage Competition. “Effortlessly floating across octaves and fast passages, nailing the high notes with precision…she is definitely a talent to watch for.” (Denise Lai, La Scena Musicale, Montreal).

For the 2024/25 season, she joins the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at LA Opera, where she will debut as Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, returning to perform the Voice of the Fountain in Ainadamar and both Countess Ceprano and the Page in Rigoletto, while also covering Despina in Così fan tutte. She also debuts at Des Moines Metro Opera this season, performing the Slave in Salome and covering Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande.

In 2023, she was a finalist in Houston Grand Opera’s Eleanor McCollum Competition and was the recipient of the Ana María Martínez Encouragement Award. She was also the winner of the Michigan District in the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and received an Encouragement Award at the Great Lakes Regional Round.

She earned her master’s from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in 2024, where she performed both the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen and Blanche de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites. She earned her bachelor’s from the University of Toronto in 2022. She is also an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Houston Grand Opera Young Artists’ Vocal Academy, and the Ravinia Steans Music Institute.
